Every stylist at Reverie sets their own pricing, and when you book online you’ll see your colorist’s price before you confirm. Prices are quoted before toner, which is priced separately from $75. Longer hair and thicker density price accordingly. Every quote is written before any color is applied. A standalone consultation is $50 for 15 minutes, or $150 for 30 minutes with Sal, and the fee is credited in full toward any service or product at Reverie within 30 days — it is forfeited only on a no-show or a cancellation inside 24 hours. Every appointment already includes a full consultation in the chair at no extra charge.

How to Choose the Best Colorist for Your Hair

Before booking any colorist in Chicago — at Reverie or elsewhere — these are the questions that separate a great colorist from a careful guess.

1. "Will you paint my balayage freehand, or apply it in foils?" Real balayage is hand-painted. "Balayage-style" foil work is not balayage. Either is fine — but you should know which one you're paying for.

15 minutes for $50, or 30 minutes with Sal for $150 — and the fee is credited in full toward any service or product at Reverie within 30 days, so it comes back to you. No obligation. Your colorist evaluates your current color, condition, texture, and growth pattern; reviews your color history (box dye, keratin, relaxers, prior salon color all affect the plan); and discusses your lifestyle, maintenance tolerance, and budget. You leave with a written plan, honest timeline, and transparent quote before any color is applied.

The appointment

Most full-color services run 2.5–4 hours. Color corrections, vivids, and major transformations can run 4–6 hours, sometimes split across two sessions to protect hair integrity. You can work from the chair — Wi-Fi, espresso, outlets at every station.

Toning, finish, and aftercare

After lift, your colorist custom-tones your hair using Davines to hit your exact shade target — toner is priced separately, from $75 — then finishes with a professional blow-dry.
