Why curly hair needs a specialist
Curly hair is structurally different from straight hair. It’s drier, more porous, and behaves completely differently wet versus dry. Cutting it wet — like most stylists are trained to do — is guesswork. You can’t see where the shrinkage will land, how the layers will fall, or how the shape will frame the face until the hair is in its natural state.
We cut curly hair dry. That’s non-negotiable. It’s the only way to see the curl pattern as it actually lives and shape the cut accordingly.
What we offer
Curly cuts. Dry cutting that works with your specific curl pattern. The goal is a cut that requires minimal styling effort and looks intentional whether your curls are fully defined or second-day stretched.
Curl consultations. Product recommendations, routine building, technique coaching. A lot of curly-haired clients have a bathroom full of products that don’t work because nobody ever taught them the right application method for their specific texture.
Color for curls. Curly hair can absolutely be colored, but the approach needs to be gentler. We use lower volumes, go slower, and incorporate K18 repair treatments to maintain structural integrity. Balayage works beautifully on curls because the freehand technique follows the natural curl pattern.

Chicago is tough on curly hair. Summer humidity makes everything expand. Winter heating dries everything out.
