About Us
Sal Misseri is one of the most decorated and versatile hairstylists in North America — and one of the very few in the world recognized at the highest level in haircutting, color, men's styling, and editorial simultaneously. His 17 NAHA recognitions, international awards from Canada, Ireland, and London, Davines Global Artist status, and NYFW backstage credits set him apart. He founded Reverie Salon to bring that global-level artistry to every client in a personal, dedicated setting.
A great salon isn't built by one person. It's built by a team that shares a vision — and then pours everything they have into it, every single day.
Reverie Salon began with Sal Misseri's belief that every person who sits in a salon chair deserves a world-class experience. But Reverie has become what it is today — Chicago's most trusted name in hair — because of the extraordinary team that shows up every day to make that belief real. Ten artists. Ten unique sets of skills, instincts, and creative voices. One shared commitment to doing the best work of their lives for every client who walks through the door.
4.9/5 on Yelp across 189+ reviews. Davines-exclusive products. Every look designed for you. River North, Chicago.
Sal Misseri — Owner & Creative Director
Sal Misseri is one of the most versatile and decorated hairstylists working today — and one of the very few in the world recognized at the highest level across every discipline. While most stylists train in a single specialty, Sal has been nominated for and won awards in haircutting, color, men's styling, and editorial — at both the North American and international level. That kind of range simply doesn't exist elsewhere.
His credentials include 17 North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) recognitions — spanning Hairstylist of the Year (3× finalist), Newcomer of the Year (winner, 2012), and multiple category nominations. He's a BTC Big Shot Creative Colorist of the Year winner, Estetica's Choice Men's Hairstylist of the Year, a Top 30 Colorist Under 30, and finalist for the Canadian Mirror Awards International Stylist of the Year, Irish Hairdressing Awards International Stylist of the Year, and the International Visionary Award (London, 2016).
Beyond competition, Sal is a Davines Global Artist — one of a select group chosen worldwide to represent the Italian luxury brand. He's the founder of Kaizen Education, a professional development platform for stylists, and has taught master classes across the UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Germany, Japan, South Africa, Canada, and throughout the United States. He served as lead educator at Brown Aveda Institute and has styled backstage at New York Fashion Week for Christian Siriano, Porsche Design, Kimberly Ovitz, Behnaz Sarafpour, and Ann Yee.
His work has been published in Vogue, Allure, Modern Salon, American Salon, Estetica, Behind the Chair, Bangstyle, and Davines international campaigns across three continents.
At Reverie, Sal channels everything he's learned on global stages into a personal, dedicated experience. Every client benefits from the same precision, artistry, and intention he brings to competition and editorial work — but tailored entirely to your hair, your face, and your life.
What We Believe
These aren't corporate values on a wall. They're the shared beliefs that every member of the Reverie team lives by — and the reason our clients feel the difference from the moment they sit down.
Consultation is the service. The best color and cut in the world won't help if they're not right for your hair. Every Reverie appointment begins with a real conversation — your hair's history, condition, texture, lifestyle, and goals — before a single tool is picked up. Our team believes that listening is the most important skill a stylist can have.
Technical skill is non-negotiable. Trends come and go. A colorist who understands tone, porosity, underlying pigment, and molecular behavior inside the hair shaft will deliver better results regardless of what's fashionable. Every Reverie artist was hired for technical depth first, and the team trains continuously through Sal's Kaizen-influenced education model — pushing each other to grow, refine, and master new techniques.
The right products make the difference. We use Davines professional products exclusively — a B-Corp certified Italian brand known for exceptional color performance, treatment efficacy, and sustainability. Your hair deserves better than products formulated to a price point. Davines is our standard because their quality matches the standard we hold for everything else.
Your time has value. We start on time. We give accurate pricing before we start. We don't add surprise charges at checkout. Transparency isn't a selling point at Reverie — it's a baseline expectation that the entire team upholds.
Every Chair Is a Private Atelier
A look designed for you — by a Kaizen-trained artist with the time, focus, and craft to see all of you.
At Reverie, your artist is reading more than your hair. They're studying your bone structure and the angles of your face, listening to how you actually live — the mornings you want to feel effortless, the evenings you want to feel unmistakable — and asking about your texture, your growth pattern, the way you wear it between appointments. Every detail shapes the look they create for you. That level of care takes uninterrupted time, and our artists have it: each appointment is designed around you — the consultation runs deep, the color is mixed precisely, and the cut is refined until it's right. It's the standard we hold ourselves to, and it's why our clients come back.
Our Team
Reverie is a true team. Sal founded it with a clear vision, but the salon has grown into something extraordinary because of the talented, passionate artists who show up every day. They train together, support one another, push creative boundaries, and bring their unique strengths to create an experience that feels personal and exceptional for every client.
Each person on this team was personally chosen by Sal — not just for technical skill, but for heart. For the kind of genuine care that makes a client feel seen, understood, and confident from the first consultation to the final mirror reveal. This is the team that has earned Reverie a 4.9/5 rating on Yelp across 189+ reviews — with every detail tailored to you.

Gia Vu — Blonding & Balayage Stylist

Hair has always been my way of connecting with people — of helping them walk out feeling like the most complete version of themselves.
I trained at the Douglas J Aveda Institute and graduated in 2020 with a strong foundation in color. My specialties are blonding, hand-painted balayage, and the kind of lived-in, dimensional looks that feel effortless on the person wearing them. Even with years behind the chair, I've never stopped wanting to grow — which is why I'm currently training directly under Sal Misseri, deepening my craft across cuts, texture, shape, and every detail in between.
My goal for every appointment is simple: it should feel easy. Tell me what you love, what you've been avoiding, and what you've been quietly dreaming about, and we'll design the rest together.
Whether you're coming in for a color refresh, a new cut, or a full transformation, I'm in for all of it. I can't wait to meet you.

We use Davines professional products exclusively — and it's a choice the entire team stands behind.
Davines is a B-Corp certified Italian brand built on performance, sustainability, and quality you can feel the moment it touches your hair. Their color systems deliver the tonal accuracy our colorists demand. Their treatments protect and restore with real efficacy. Vicki O'Connor was one of Davines' key trainers when the brand launched in North America over 16 years ago — that deep product knowledge lives in every color appointment at Reverie.
We carry Davines because every artist on this team tested alternatives and arrived at the same conclusion: nothing else comes close.
In Loving Memory
Reverie carries the spirit of Julie (Kocanyar) Lubic with us. Julie was one of our founding stylists, a quiet force behind so much of who we became — the standards, the warmth, the way a chair feels when you sit down. She was also one of my closest friends, and the loss of Julie and her husband Adam is one this family will carry for a long time.
Their light shaped this place. Every time someone leaves Reverie feeling more themselves than when they walked in, a little of that is Julie's doing.
