Your stylist sections the hair and places a row of small beads across it, then sews the weft to that row by hand with a needle and thread. Nothing is glued and nothing is heated — the attachment is mechanical, which is a large part of why the method suits delicate hair.
Rows are mapped to your head shape and your parting, not to a template. Placed correctly they are invisible when you put your hair up, which is the test most people actually care about.

It is usually the right pick if: your hair is fine or medium, you want volume more than dramatic length, you wear your hair up often, or you have found individual bonds uncomfortable to sleep on.

Maintenance and Longevity
Hand-tied rows need moving up every 6 to 8 weeks as your natural hair grows and the row drifts away from the scalp. The move-up is a re-tightening, not a re-install — the same hair is reused.
The hair itself lasts 9 to 12 months with proper care. What shortens it is heat without protection, sulfate shampoos at the weft, and brushing from the top down rather than from the ends up.

We size the row to what your hair can carry and we will tell you at consultation if your density will not support the look you want.
How long does a hand-tied install take?
Plan on three to five hours for a first install, depending on how many rows you need and whether we are coloring the same day. Move-ups run about 90 minutes to two hours.
Can you put hand-tied extensions in fine hair?
Yes — fine hair is the main reason the method exists. The hand-tied weft has no machine seam, so it lies flatter against the scalp than a machine weft or a tape-in. The limit is not fineness but density: there has to be enough hair on the row to hide it and to carry the weight.
How often do hand-tied extensions need to be moved up?
