Of all the north-side neighborhoods we serve, Old Town is the closest — and it isn't particularly close, it's practically next door. We're Reverie Salon, located in River North at Grand and Franklin, and from the Sedgwick Brown Line stop you're two stops and about six minutes from the Merchandise Mart station, then a four-minute walk to our chair. To be clear, we're not in Old Town itself; we just happen to sit at the bottom of your train line, close enough that the trip barely counts as one.

That proximity shapes how Old Town clients use us. The appointment becomes part of an evening rather than the whole evening: hair at 5, dinner on Wells at 7:30, a show at Second City after. Or the reverse — a Saturday 9 AM slot, done before the farmers market crowd has finished its coffee. What you find at the other end of that short ride is a salon built around craft. Reverie is led by Sal Misseri — 17× NAHA nominated and recognized, a three-time Hairstylist of the Year finalist, and a Davines Global Artist — and staffed by a Kaizen-trained team of ten stylists plus an esthetician for facials and waxing. Sal's signature is dry and razor cutting: shapes decided in advance, cut to look better in week eight than in week one. The salon works exclusively with Davines color and care.

Having an esthetician in-house matters more here than you'd think — a number of Old Town regulars pair a facial or brow wax with their color appointment and handle two errands in one trip down Wells.

• By train: Brown Line from Sedgwick to Merchandise Mart — two stops, about six minutes — then a roughly four-minute walk to Grand and Franklin.
