How to choose: problem first, texture second
Almost everyone gets this backwards. Start with what your hair is doing wrong, then pick the Fine, Medium or Coarse version of that line.

Fine, Medium, Coarse — what that actually means
This is the part people get wrong most often. Fine, Medium and Coarse describe the thickness of one individual strand — not how much hair you have. You can have a huge amount of fine hair, or very little coarse hair.
Pull one strand and roll it between your fingers. If you can barely feel it, you're Fine. If it feels like sewing thread, you're Coarse. Anything in between is Medium.
- Fine formulas are deliberately light so they don't collapse the hair. On coarse hair they won't soften enough.
- Coarse formulas carry more conditioning agents to get through a thicker cuticle. On fine hair they read as greasy by day two.
- Medium is the safe choice if you genuinely can't tell.
The Smoothing, Moisture and Volumizing lines all split this way. If you're unsure, ask your artist at your next appointment — it takes ten seconds to check at the chair.
Milbon Gold
Gold is the premium tier — shampoo $50.00, treatment $59.00 — and it is built around what happens to hair with age rather than what happens to it in a blow-dryer. Choose by concern:
- Indulging Hydration — for hair that has gone dry and papery.
- Illuminating Glow — for dullness and lost light reflection.
- Vitalizing Dimension — for density loss and hair that has gone limp.
- Enhancing Vivacity — for coarse, wiry grey that won't behave. Comes in Soften and Refine.
Why Milbon isn't on Amazon
Milbon is professional-only and does not authorise marketplace sellers. What appears on Amazon or eBay is diverted stock — bottles that left the supply chain through a back door, with no record of how long they sat in a warehouse or at what temperature. Surfactant systems and silicone emulsions separate with heat and age; a diverted bottle can be chemically different from the one on our shelf while looking identical.
There is also no manufacturer backing behind it. If a diverted bottle causes a reaction, nobody stands behind it. We stock it, we store it properly, and we'll take it back within 30 days if it isn't right for your hair.
How long a bottle lasts
Milbon is concentrated. Most clients use roughly half as much per wash as they would of a drugstore shampoo, and a 6.8oz bottle typically lasts two to three months of regular washing. That works out to a lower cost per wash than most supermarket brands — which is not the argument people expect us to make, but it's the true one.
