Misseri's Bespoke Renewal Cut | Reverie Salon Chicago
Sal Misseri's Signature Service · River North
Misseri's Bespoke Renewal Cut
A 90-minute haircut designed around your hair, your face, and your morning routine. The signature service at Reverie — and the cut I built around what most salon haircuts miss.
Misseri's Bespoke Renewal Cut is a 90-minute precision haircut at Reverie Salon in River North, Chicago, priced at $500 with founder Sal Misseri. It combines a 15-minute consultation, a Davines Naturaltech scalp treatment, a 45-minute cut designed from scratch for your hair, a custom blow-dry, and a styling walkthrough — and it is engineered to hold its shape for eight to ten weeks rather than the four to six a standard cut gives you.
I created it because I kept seeing the same thing: clients coming in for a haircut and leaving with a shape that worked for about two weeks before it lost its structure. The problem wasn't the stylist's skill — it was the approach. Most cuts are designed for how hair looks wet in the chair, not for how it behaves three weeks later when you're styling it yourself.
The Bespoke Renewal Cut is my answer to that. It's a longer appointment, a deeper consultation, a scalp reset, and a cutting technique built around how your specific hair grows, moves, and falls. This isn't a trim. It's the cut where your hair finally makes sense.
What's Inside the 90 Minutes
The Bespoke Renewal Cut is built as five distinct parts. Each is intentional. Together they're the reason this cut behaves differently — and lasts longer — than a standard 45-minute appointment.
1. The deep consultation (15 min)
This is the part that decides everything else. Your stylist asks about your hair history, how you actually style at home (or whether you do), what's frustrated you about past cuts, what your hair does when you let it air-dry, and the cuts you've loved and hated. We look at growth patterns, density, your natural part, your face shape, and your daily reality. No rush, no template — careful attention that shapes every cutting decision.
2. Davines Naturaltech scalp treatment (15 min)
A deeply relaxing hair and scalp ritual using Davines Naturaltech — the professional line, which comes in four characters (calming, balancing, replenishing, energizing). Your stylist picks the one they think your hair wants that day. It lifts away buildup and leaves the hair clean, soft and light — a fresh foundation for the cut to sit on, and quietly the best fifteen minutes of the appointment.
3. The precision cut (45 min)
The cut itself, built from scratch for your hair. Weight distribution, interior layering, perimeter line, and movement — every element is calibrated against what we found in your consultation. Techniques drawn from the same precision standard I teach internationally through Kaizen Education: point cutting, slide cutting, scissor-over-comb, clipper-over-comb, and dry refinement as needed.
4. Custom blow-dry and finish (10 min)
The finishing style isn't decorative — it's part of the cut. We dry-refine after the wet cut, which lets us see where the hair actually falls and refine the shape against how it behaves dry rather than wet. The finish is built to be replicable at home with whatever tools you already own.
5. The styling walkthrough (5 min)
Before you leave, your stylist shows you exactly how to recreate the look — which products, which techniques, which tools (or no tools), and how much time it should actually take. We send you home with the specific Davines products that fit your cut and routine. No upselling — the recommendations are honest and short.
Why It Grows Out Better
The measure of a haircut isn't day one — it's week eight. Every shape I cut is planned against its own grow-out: weight is removed where the hair will expand, the perimeter is set where the line will still read cleanly once it has moved, and interior layers are placed so the shape softens instead of collapsing. That foresight is the whole difference. Most clients get eight to ten weeks out of a Bespoke Renewal Cut before it needs re-cutting, against four to six weeks for a conventional salon haircut.
Who's Performing the Cut
The Bespoke Renewal Cut can be booked with me directly or with one of the stylists I've personally trained on the protocol.
Sal Misseri — Owner & Creative Director
17-time NAHA honoree across cutting, color, men's, and editorial. Three-time NAHA Hairstylist of the Year finalist. Estetica's Men's Hairstylist of the Year. Davines Global Artist. NYFW backstage credits including Christian Siriano and Porsche Design. The Bespoke Renewal Cut is the service I designed personally. Books in advance — reserve early.
Sydney Misseri — Artistic Director of Haircutting, Kaizen Education
Sassoon-trained, with HOB Salon London experience, two years training directly under me, then with global artists Allen Ruiz, Lupe Voss, and David Adams. As Kaizen's Artistic Director of Haircutting, Sydney coaches stylists across the country on advanced precision cutting. She delivers the Bespoke Renewal Cut to the exact same standard I do.
Sydney Goicoechea — Haircut Specialist
Kaizen-certified Haircut Specialist. Cuts-first focus. Strong for clients who want the Bespoke Renewal Cut experience but want a stylist whose entire practice is cutting work.
Other cutters on our floor are also trained on the Bespoke Renewal Cut protocol. Take our 60-second Stylist Match quiz if you're unsure who to book with.
Pricing — Length-Based, Not Gender-Based
One note on how we price. Reverie has been gender-neutral on cut pricing for about 15 years — we were one of the first Chicago salons to switch. We believe hair is like a fabric: the more there is to work with, the more time and skill the cut takes. So we price by length, not by gender. A client with long hair pays the long-cut rate; a client with a pixie pays the short-cut rate. It's a values position as much as a pricing one.
Misseri's Bespoke Renewal Cut is $500 with Sal, at any length — the price reflects the 90 minutes and the protocol, not how much hair you have. Booked with one of the stylists trained on the protocol, it is quoted at your consultation.
| Service | Price | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Misseri's Bespoke Renewal Cut with Sal Misseri | $500 | 90 min |
| Bespoke Renewal Cut with a stylist trained on the protocol | Quoted at consult | 90 min |
| Standard cut — short (pixie, crop, very short layers) | Priced by stylist | 45–60 min |
| Standard cut — medium (bobs, lobs, mid-length) | Priced by stylist | 60 min |
| Standard cut — long (shoulder-length and longer) | Priced by stylist | 60 min |
Every stylist at Reverie sets their own pricing, and standard cuts are priced by length within it. When you book online you’ll see your stylist’s price before you confirm. Pricing is the same for every client regardless of gender. You receive a transparent written quote at your consultation before any scissors touch your hair. The Bespoke investment reflects 90 minutes of focused, considered work — extended consultation, scalp treatment, precision cut, custom blow-dry, and styling walkthrough.
Who the Bespoke Renewal Cut Is For
The Bespoke Renewal Cut is built for clients who've been getting "good" haircuts but want something exceptional. It's particularly right for:
- Clients who struggle to recreate their salon look at home. A cut designed around your texture and growth eliminates the gap between the chair and the bathroom mirror.
- Anyone in a hair rut. Same cut, same frustrations, every six weeks. The Renewal Cut breaks that loop.
- Clients transitioning between lengths or styles. Going from long to short, growing out a bob, moving away from a previous identity — these journeys benefit from a stylist who builds the cut for where you're heading, not just where you are.
- People who appreciate craft. If you're someone who notices the difference between competent work and meticulous work — and is willing to invest in the second — this is your service.
- People who like being looked after. The integrated Naturaltech hair and scalp treatment makes this a strong fit for anyone who wants the appointment to feel as good as the result looks.

What to Expect at Your First Appointment
Before
Bring two or three reference photos of cuts you like and one or two of cuts you specifically don't want. Reference images tell your stylist more in 60 seconds than 20 minutes of conversation. Come with clean, dry, unstyled hair so we can see how it behaves naturally.
The session itself
Plan on 90 minutes. There's espresso, Wi-Fi, outlets at every chair if you need to work. The session is unhurried by design — no rushed transitions between steps, no clock-watching.
After
Most clients return every 8 to 10 weeks for a maintenance Bespoke Renewal Cut or a shorter precision cut. Your stylist will set a cadence with you at the appointment so you don't have to figure it out alone.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Bespoke Renewal Cut?
It's Reverie's signature 90-minute haircut experience designed by Sal Misseri, priced at $500 with Sal. The session includes an extended consultation, a Davines Naturaltech scalp treatment, a precision cut built specifically for your hair's behavior and your daily routine, a custom blow-dry, and a styling walkthrough so you can recreate the look at home.
How much does the Bespoke Renewal Cut cost?
Misseri's Bespoke Renewal Cut is $500 with Sal Misseri, at any length. Booked with a stylist trained on the protocol, it is quoted at consultation. Reverie prices by length and stylist, never by gender, and you receive a written quote before any scissors touch your hair.
How is it different from a regular haircut?
A standard salon haircut runs 45–60 minutes and is built around a reference photo. The Bespoke Renewal Cut runs 90 minutes and is built from scratch around your specific hair — texture, density, growth patterns, lifestyle — with an integrated scalp treatment and a styling walkthrough included. Most clients get 8 to 10 weeks out of it, against 4 to 6 for a conventional cut.
How long does a Bespoke Renewal Cut hold its shape?
Most clients get eight to ten weeks before it needs re-cutting. The grow-out is designed into the cut — weight removed where the hair will expand, the perimeter set where the line still reads cleanly once it has moved — so the shape softens rather than collapsing.
Can I book the Bespoke Renewal Cut with Sal Misseri specifically?
Yes. Sal personally delivers the Bespoke Renewal Cut at $500. His schedule books 3 to 6 weeks out — reserve early. Sydney Misseri (Artistic Director of Haircutting at Kaizen Education) and Sydney Goicoechea (Kaizen-certified Haircut Specialist) are also trained to deliver it to the same standard.
How long does the appointment take?
Plan on 90 minutes total — 15 minutes of consultation, 15 minutes of scalp treatment, 45 minutes for the cut itself, 10 minutes of custom blow-dry, and 5 minutes of styling walkthrough. The session is intentionally unhurried.
Will my hair be easier to style at home after this cut?
Yes — that's a core goal. A well-designed cut works with your natural texture and reduces the time, product, and tools you need each morning. Your stylist also teaches you specific finishing techniques during the walkthrough so the at-home version of the cut is close to the in-salon version.
What's in the scalp treatment?
A deeply relaxing ritual using Davines Naturaltech — the professional line. Your stylist selects the Naturaltech they think your hair wants that day (calming, balancing, replenishing, or energizing). It lifts away buildup and leaves the hair clean, soft and light before the cut. Learn more on our scalp therapy page.
Can I combine the Bespoke Renewal Cut with color?
Yes — it's one of our most-booked combinations. Plan on 4–6 hours total depending on the color service. Book the color appointment first; we attach the Bespoke Renewal Cut to it.
