The short answer: every four to six weeks, because that's roughly how long your skin's natural renewal cycle takes — a professional treatment timed to that cycle keeps results compounding instead of starting over each visit. But the honest answer depends on your skin, your goals, and your budget, so here's how we actually think about it in the treatment room at Reverie.

Why 4–6 weeks is the standard

Your skin replaces itself on a cycle — faster in your twenties, slower with each decade. A facial at the top of each cycle clears the buildup of dead cells, keeps pores from re-congesting, and lets active ingredients reach skin that's actually ready to respond. Stretch it to three or four months and each facial is starting from scratch; keep a monthly-ish cadence and each one builds on the last.

The real answer, by goal

Maintenance and glow: every 4–6 weeks — the Signature Facial is built for exactly this.

Working on something specific — texture, sun damage, breakouts, fine lines: usually a short series closer together (every 3–4 weeks), often alternating a facial with a PCA peel, then dropping to maintenance once you've hit the goal. Elizabeth, our licensed esthetician, maps this out at your first visit.

Big event coming: book 3–7 days ahead — close enough to glow, far enough that your skin has settled. Never try a first-time peel or first-time dermaplaning the day before a wedding.

Budget says occasionally: then aim for seasonally — four facials a year at the change of seasons beats four random ones, because Chicago's weather swings (radiator-dry winters, humid summers) are exactly when skin needs recalibrating.

What about in between?

The honest truth every good esthetician will tell you: your home routine does more total work than your facials. The facial is the deep reset and the professional eyes on your skin; the daily routine holds the line. That's also why we end every facial with a short walk-through of what your skin actually needs at home — usually fewer products than you're using, chosen better. We carry PCA Skin because it's the professional line we treat with.

Signs you're overdue

Makeup sitting unevenly, texture you can feel, congestion around the nose and chin, dullness that moisturizer doesn't fix, or products that "stopped working." That last one is usually dead-cell buildup blocking absorption — a facial fixes it in an hour.
