Short answer

If your hair is fine and goes flat or oily by lunchtime, the four products we reach for at Reverie are Dede Leave-In Mist, Oi All-In-One Milk (the "non-oil"), Oi Soufflé, and Liquid Spell. Each one is built to add softness, shape, or body without the heavy film that drags fine hair down.

Why fine hair gets oily — fast

Fine hair isn't dirty hair. It's just that every strand is thinner, so there's less surface area to soak up oil. Sebum slides straight to the lengths, and a single drop of the wrong leave-in reads as greasy by 2 p.m. The fix isn't washing more often — it's choosing styling and finishing products designed for fine hair, in light textures (mists, milks, foams) instead of heavy creams and butters.

The four products below are the ones we hand to fine-hair clients again and again.

1. Dede Leave-In Mist — the daily reset

Best for: fine hair that tangles, looks tired, or just needs a fast pick-me-up between washes.

Dede Leave-In is a fine-mist spray you use on damp hair after washing (or on dry hair to revive). It detangles, softens, and adds a clean shine without any heaviness — fine hair sees no weight, no buildup, no greasy patches at the roots. It's the most forgiving leave-in we sell, which is why it's usually our first recommendation.

2. Oi All-In-One Milk — the "non-oil" multitasker

Best for: fine hair that wants softness, detangling, and frizz control in one step.

When clients ask us for "the non-oil version of Oi Oil," this is the one they mean. Oi Milk is a light spray-on milk that conditions, smooths, controls frizz, and adds heat protection — without the slick film a true oil would leave. It works on almost every hair type, but it shines on fine hair because it never weighs the strand down.

3. Oi Soufflé — for body, lift, and softness all at once

Best for: fine hair that wants real volume without crunch, stickiness, or product film.

Oi Soufflé is the one we get most excited about for fine hair. It's a liquid-to-foam leave-in — you press the pump and a soft mousse comes out. You work it through damp hair before drying and it adds body and softness as you blow it out. The finish is touchably soft, not stiff. If you've always avoided mousse because it leaves your hair crispy, this is the modern version that fixes that.

4. Liquid Spell — for fine hair that feels weak or sensitized

Best for: fine hair that feels fragile after color, breaks easily, or just doesn't hold a style.

Liquid Spell is a bodifying leave-in fluid that strengthens the strand from the inside. It's the one we recommend when fine hair has been through some life — bleach, hot tools, postpartum changes — and needs a little backbone. A few drops worked through damp hair before drying makes the hair feel thicker and more resilient, but it stays light. Nothing about it is heavy.

A quick note on Oi Oil

You'll see Oi Oil in the same family — and we love it — but on truly fine hair it can be too much. It's built for coarse, dry, or thick hair that needs real shine. If your hair is fine, start with the Milk or the Soufflé instead. Save Oi Oil for the ends only, if at all.

How we'd combine them

Most fine-hair routines don't need all four. A good starting place:

  • Daily: Dede Leave-In Mist + Oi Soufflé before blow-drying.
  • On color-treated or fragile fine hair: swap in Liquid Spell for the Soufflé.
  • On non-wash days: a quick refresh of Dede Leave-In through the mid-lengths.

If you're not sure which combo is right for your hair, book in with one of our stylists — we'll show you the products on your hair and you'll feel the difference before you commit to anything.
