If you’re searching for a salon in Chicago — specifically River North, Gold Coast, Lincoln Park, the Loop, or anywhere on the north side — I’d like to make the case for why Reverie should be on your short list. Not with marketing speak, but with what we actually do differently.
We specialize instead of trying to do everything
Most salons offer everything: cuts, color, nails, facials, waxing, lash extensions, spray tans. We don’t. Reverie is built around a specific set of services done at the highest level we can manage: precision cuts, balayage, AirTouch, color correction, and bridal hair.
When a salon specializes, the quality of each service goes up because the team spends all their time perfecting those specific skills instead of spreading thin across a dozen different things. Every one of our artists trains through Kaizen Education — the advanced color curriculum I built over two decades of doing this work.
What our clients actually say
We have 249+ Google reviews with a 4.8-star average. I’m not going to pretend every single experience has been perfect — that’s not realistic for any business. But the patterns in our reviews are consistent: thorough consultations, attention to detail, color that looks the way it was supposed to look, and stylists who listen before they start cutting or painting.
The reviews that mean the most to me are the ones from clients who came in after a bad experience somewhere else. Color corrections from botched bleach jobs. Cuts that grew out weird because the layers weren’t cut properly. Those clients are the hardest to earn trust from, and when they leave happy, it means something.
Focused attention
When you’re in someone’s chair at Reverie, they’re paying attention. Not rushing through your appointment, not distracted. Your stylist knows your hair history, remembers what worked last time, and cares about getting it right — because our reputation is built on clients who keep coming back.
Does this mean we see fewer clients per day? Yes. Does it mean the work is better? Also yes.
The products we use and sell
We carry Davines, K18, and Cult and King. All professional-grade, all chosen because they actually perform — not because they offered us the best wholesale deal. K18 in particular has changed how we approach damaged and lightened hair. Its molecular repair technology rebuilds the keratin chain at the peptide level, which means clients leave with hair that’s structurally stronger, not just temporarily smoother.
We use these products on you during your appointment and we sell them so you can maintain the results at home. The recommendation is always honest — we’d rather sell you the two products you actually need than five you’ll never finish.
The space
Reverie is in River North, one of Chicago’s most walkable neighborhoods. The salon is designed to feel calm — not the sterile quiet of a medical office, but the comfortable kind where you can actually relax. Good lighting, good music, good coffee. No chaos, no shouting over blow dryers.
We’re not trying to be trendy. We’re trying to be the salon you come back to for years because the work is consistently good and the experience doesn’t feel like a production.
What we cost
Haircuts start around $75. Partial balayage starts around $165. Full color services range from $225–$400+ depending on technique, length, and complexity. We include toner with every lightening service. Complimentary consultations for new clients.
We’re not the cheapest salon in Chicago and we’re not trying to be. But we believe the value is in the consistency — hair that looks the way you wanted it to look, maintained by someone who remembers your formula and your preferences, in a space that respects your time.
Come see for yourself
Book a consultation or appointment. Walk-ins welcome for consultations. We’d rather you meet us and decide if it’s a fit than make promises online we can’t keep in person.
